As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer you will be responsible for Mechanical Plant and Equipment, Welding, and fabrication of plant machinery and heavy vehicles delivering the Planned Maintenance schedules as defined by the site maintenance plans. You will be expected to work to a high standard in a cost effective manner and be responsible for planning, organising and undertaking corrective & reactive work, delivering improvement projects leading to increased plant reliability and cost reduction.
THE ROLE:
- Complete Planned Maintenance inspections
- Plan and deliver corrective and reactive work, ensuring that tools, parts and materials are available and production downtime is minimised.
- Ensure all plant and equipment on sites is modified and improved, as necessary, to maximise equipment availability and performance whilst still achieving output levels required to meet production demands.
- Stock control. Maintaining shift paperwork to complete condition reports and other documentation as defined by the maintenance strategy
- Undertake assessments of malfunctioning equipment and provide advice to the site management team to assist and influence decision making
- Undertake engineering project work and assist with new installations or refurbishments
- Update Computerised Maintenance Management System
- Contribute to problem solving workshops, providing your engineering expertise to identify root causes of failures and recommend subsequent improvement actions
- Attend daily operational review meetings, providing updates on Planned Maintenance compliance, live defects and ongoing improvement plans
SKILLS / EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS:
- Qualified with an HNC, City & Guilds or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
- Excellent mechanical diagnostic skills
- High standard of Welding and Fabrication techniques
- Multi Skilled with some formal electrical training (3 phase, Control systems PLC, Inverter drives)
- Awareness of Environmental, Health & Safety regulations and their impacts
- Good understanding of a proactive maintenance strategy and condition monitoring
- Knowledge of electrical safety
- Understanding of safe systems of work. I.e. Plant isolations and safety systems
- Able to co-ordinate work activities including contractors
- Ability to think logically and decisively to effectively provide engineering management solutions
- Ability to work on own initiative or part of a team
- Numerate and literate with the ability to produce basic reports and management data as required
- Full driving licence
