We are actively seeking skilled and qualified Scientific Software Development Engineers educated to a high level (PhD/ MSc/ 1st or 2:1) in a physical science (physics, maths etc) with excellent software development skills for a market-leading client.
This role will initially be based in the clients Edinburgh office before transitioning to their new offices in Guildford by September 2024.
You will be part of a team researching and developing engineering models that improve and represent the physics and engineering principles around the modeling of large-scale physical data projects.
Depending on the individual’s circumstances, the client will provide accommodation or a hotel in Edinburgh ( they will be flexible in what they offer, including arrangements for partners and families) after starting. If the start date is closer to September of this year, the same will be provided in Surrey with travel to Edinburgh when required.
The successful applicant will join as an important member of our client’s established software product team, testing cutting-edge software used to solve complex engineering problems across the globe.
Successful candidates will become integral members of the development and engineering team, engaging in tasks such as product design, software coding, interface design, database development, and software tools testing.

- Algorithm development
- Software coding
- Interface design
- Testing of the software tool kit in-line with the corporate product development plan.
Skills required:
- Post graduate/ commercial experience in Software Development.
- A PhD or good degree in Physics, Mathematics, Chemical Engineering or Petroleum / Petrochemical.
- Skilled in one (or more) of the following: C#, C, C++, .Net Technologies, Fortran, Visual Studio
