We are seeking a skilled Realtime Embedded Software/Firmware Engineer with a minimum of 4 years of experience and proven skills in Wireless technology (WiFi/DECT/Bluetooth) for a key client in their Edinburgh Design Centre.

The successful applicant will play a key part in the design, development implementation, test and integration of Real Time Embedded software and firmware for industry-standard digital wireless products.

This is a team role with some European and US colleague collaboration when needed.

The client is a major worldwide organisation with a product line that has been used for almost 100 years and evolved into cutting edge products that still lead in today s market.

Responsibilities: (a mix of the following):

  • Working with communications protocols (eg Bluetooth/DECT/WiFi) for cutting edge Wireless products.
  • Device Driver development eg LCDs, I2C, SPI, UARTs
  • Help and work towards leading cross-functional development design.
  • Working closely with peers with a strong focus on producing a high quality of Embedded software and firmware.

Qualifications and Skills required:

  • BSc or MSc degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering related subject.
  • An comfortable knowledge of Embedded firmware development.
  • C programming skills a must with C++ desirable.
  • Real Time Embedded programming.
  • An understanding of Real Time kernels.
  • Driver datasheet experience. Skilled in debugging tools such as logic analysers, oscilloscopes & spectrum analysers.
  • Some hardware knowledge is desirable eg reviewing schematic diagrams, target board layouts etc.
  • Software version control and release procedure experience.
